It continues to be a crazy world.

We’ve journeyed from the turbulence of President Trump’s era and the initial shock of the coronavirus to new terrains.

Our dialogues around race and identity are evolving, the pandemic has…  morphed, and climate change is pressing. We are in an era where constant adaptation is not just necessary but a fundamental part of our existence.

Depicts a curve that begins at the top left, then dips down after a slight rise. a horizontal 'water line' appears across the middle of the graph. The curve dips down below the water line and then climbs back up to the right. Five stages are labeled: Uninformed optimism, Informed pessimism, Valley of Despair (which contains a choice of whether to give up or stick it out), Informed optimism, and finally success and fulfilment.
The Emotional Cycle of Change

In these times of continuous change, the Emotional Cycle of Change model remains a pivotal guide. With each wave of global or personal upheaval, we find ourselves navigating through uninformed optimism, informed pessimism, the valley of despair, informed optimism, and eventually, success and fulfilment.

Now, more than ever, this cycle isn’t a one-time journey. We oscillate between these stages frequently, with each new challenge presented by our rapidly transforming world. Every day, we are tasked with the decision to retreat or to embrace change with resilience and grace.

Global events like ongoing pandemic variants, natural disasters, and political shifts are communal experiences, yet they resonate on a profoundly personal level. It’s crucial to acknowledge that our individual emotional and mental landscapes are affected deeply by these collective phenomena.

The diversity in our pace through this emotional roller coaster is as apparent as ever. As some of us find footing in the new norms, others are just beginning to grapple with the changes. Patience, compassion, and understanding for ourselves and others are paramount.

Each change, be it global or personal, brings us back to the choice point in the valley of despair. Will we retreat, or will we recommit and forge ahead? It’s a question not just of enduring but evolving, growing, and transforming with every curveball thrown our way.

If the overwhelming waves of change leave you seeking grounding, remember, the conversation door is always open. Together, in coaching, we can explore pathways to not just navigate but thrive amidst the constant flux. Your adaptation, resilience, and growth are the beacons in this ever-changing world.
